Company Profile
LAKESHORES was first formed in 1992 as a division of Parent Construction, located in Baileys Harbor. Its purpose at that time was to assist the construction division in cleanup efforts. Later, its role was expanded to small landscape jobs. After the second manager left, I was recruited to take over management in 1999. The division quickly expanded through updates in personnel, equipment, advertising and an innovative design palette. 2001 brought the sale of Parent Construction to Northeast Asphalt and the sale of the landscape division to my wife Theresa and I. In August of 2002 we officially opened the new LAKESHORES landscape & design inc. production site in Carlsville.
Today, we have many of the original employees that started with the company and have added many more. LAKESHORES utilizes a broad range of knowledge and experience from each individual. Most companies add up the individual years of experience to WOW you with a ridiculous number of combined years. Since we are not a Borg collective I would rather focus on the creativity and talents of each individual employee no matter how many years they have been in the landscape industry. As it was put to me by a very wise man-"...if you have been doing something the wrong way for thirty years, that experience is worthless compared to someone who has been doing it the right way for one..."
LAKESHORES landscape & design inc. is built on design. The design style is my own and as long as I can maintain the goals of LAKESHORES I will resist adding design staff. “Cookie Cutter Design” is not an option at LAKESHORES. I am constantly improving my design skills and design palette through the use of seminars, trade resources, my own staffs innovations and sheer experimentation. There is no substitute for proper planning no matter the circumstances and there is no substitute for exploring multiple design options in order to achieve the greatest results. I believe my clients want a personalized experience. I believe something is lost when there is a sales staff and a design staff and a supervisory staff and finally a production staff. I work on every aspect of a project, from concept to completion. My clients know me and I know them. They have a consistent contact throughout the entire process, a person who can make the decisions without layers of staff pointing fingers. I have come to rely heavily on my staff’s ability to understand the feeling of a project and to incorporate that feeling into the project.
